Vicky Hyde-Smith

 

 

Vicky joined AMP Capital 2001 as an investment analyst in the Fixed Income team, progressing to portfolio manager in 2002.

Together with Grant Hassell and Warren Potter, she is responsible for managing $8.6 billion of funds invested in New Zealand Fixed Income and Cash, specifically the credit investments in the portfolios, specializing in all areas of macro credit research and company analysis.

The New Zealand Fixed Income team works closely with the AMP Capital Australian Fixed Income team. From 2008 until 2012, in addition to coverage of the Local Authority sector, Vicky’s role also included primary Australian banking analyst within the Australian credit team, providing access to management, treasury and funding teams across the major banks in Australia and insight into the broader system challenges and implications for the New Zealand economy during the financial crisis.

In 2012, with a solid understanding of the banking sector, Vicky’s role extended to coverage of all New Zealand corporates operating in the debt capital markets, including utilities, airports, dairy sectors. She continues to cover the Australian bank subsidiaries in New Zealand, but works closely with her colleagues in Australia for support at the parent company level, participating in treasury and funding meetings where relevant to the New Zealand portfolios.

Vicky’s career in Fixed Income began in 1995 when she joined Sumitomo Finance in London as Japanese speaking client liaison with Tokyo in the settlement of JGB, Samurai and Convertible bonds. She joined the proprietary trading team in 1996, supporting the trading of the risk arbitrage portfolios prior until making the decision to return to New Zealand with her family in 2000.
