Rob Everett - Chief Executive, Financial Markets Authority

Before taking up his role as Chief Executive in February 2014, Rob spent his career in investment banking, legal and risk management. After 17 years at Merrill Lynch in London, Hong Kong and New York in a variety of senior roles (including General Counsel and COO for Europe), he spent a year with regulatory consultants Promontory before moving to New Zealand at the end of 2013.

Rob has expertise in investment banking, legal and risk management as well as advising on corporate governance, compliance and other regulatory matters. His depth and wealth of experience means Rob brings a truly global perspective to his leadership of FMA.

Rob qualified as a lawyer in the UK and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree and a Master of Arts in Law from Cambridge University.
